Eckhart Tolle and Oprah conducted a discussion and study group on Tolle's book "A New Earth" for 10 weeks, ending on May 5, 2008. It was an interactive webcast on Monday nights with study groups located around the world. On Monday April 14, 21, 28, and May 5, the Bodhi Tree Bookstore hosted one of the world-wide study groups. It was a pre-selected group not open to the general public. Eckhart Tolle and Oprah discussed the last four chapters of "A New Earth" and questions were taken via webcast from various study groups throughout the world. Chapter 7 was discussed April 14, Chapter 8 April 21, Chapter 9 April 28, and Chapter 10 May 5, 2008. Archived discussions can be downloaded on Oprah.com or through iTunes.
Eckhart Tolle and Oprah's web teaching reached an extensive world-wide audience. This was a new way of teaching going beyond the traditional teaching of spirituality through books, on a one-to-one, teacher to student basis, or in relatively small, private settings. Oprah said that this program was the best thing she ever did. Learning about how consciousness works in the here and now and large number of people integrating the stillness of being into their lives could be the catalyst of change so needed by our world wide political and social society. Eckhart Tolle visited the Bodhi Tree Bookstore in November 1999 to introduce and discuss his book "The Power of Now". The book has become a national best seller. The talk was recorded and transcribed. An edited version can be found on the Bodhi Tree web site by clicking on "Lecture Transcripts". A New Earth
A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle (315 pp.) The Power of Now established Eckhart Tolle as one of the leading spiritual teachers writing today. In this follow-up to The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle takes us beyond our own lives to show that we now have an opportunity to birth a new, more loving world. This involves a radical inner leap of consciousness from the current identification with our ego to an entirely new way of thinking about who we are. For this to happen, the very structures of the human mind would need to undergo an evolutionary transformation. |

In A New Earth, Tolle shows how this transformation can occur not only in ourselves, but in the world around us. In illuminating the nature of this shift in consciousness, Tolle describes in detail how our current ego-based state of consciousness operates. He then gently and in very practical terms leads us into this new consciousness. We will come to experience who we truly are, which is infinitely greater than anything we currently think we are.
“So when you are alert and contemplate a flower, crystal, or bird without naming it mentally, it becomes a window for you into the formless. There is an inner opening, however slight, into the realm of spirit. This is why these three ‘en-lightened’ life-forms have played such an important part in the evolution of human consciousness since ancient times; why, for example, the jewel in the lotus flower is a central symbol of Buddhism and a white bird, the dove, signifies the Holy Spirit in Christianity. They have been preparing the ground for a more profound shift in planetary consciousness that is destined to take place in the human species. This is the spiritual awakening that we are beginning to witness now.” – Eckhart Tolle |
