Japanese handmade ceramic dessert plate or lid for Hasami bowl
Made from a blend of porcelain and clay, these handmade small plates from Saikai feature both modern lines and a centuries-old heritage. We love the way they stack with each other and with Hasami bowls, keeping our cupboards neat and streamlined.
In the 17th century, porcelain was first made in Hasamiyaki, Nagasaki, Japan’s most famous pottery district. Today the tradition continues with Saikai’s Hasami serveware, including these plates that can double as lids for their 5 2/3” bowls and small wood trays. Or they can be used as individual plates for dessert or appetizers. The finish on each one varies slightly in color and texture, revealing their handmade origins.
