Hasami Porcelain Milk Pitcher

Stackable porcelain milk pitcher designed by Taku Shinimoto

Description

Why We Love This

Made from porcelain mixed with potter’s clay, this milk pitcher marries a contemporary feel with time-honored Japanese pottery techniques. We love that the pitcher can stack with Hasami sugar bowl or mugs.

Story

The company behind the Hasami collection, Saikai, was founded in 1946 in Nagasaki, Japan, an area that’s been known for its porcelain since the 17th century. To this day, Saikai is famous for its timeless form-follows-function aesthetic. Since the Hasami line is handmade by Japanese artisans, each piece features slight variations in colors and texture that make it unique. Dishwasher and microwave safe, the black sugar pot’s interior and exterior are glazed with natural edges, while the natural color is unglazed throughout. Both colors feature a slightly mottled look.
