Hasami Porcelain Tea Pot

Modern porcelain teapot designed by Taku Shinimoto

Description

Why We Love This

Crafted from a porcelain and clay blend, this teapot marries a contemporary feel with time-honored Japanese pottery techniques. The black teapot’s interior and exterior are glazed with natural edges, while the natural color is unglazed throughout. We love the matte finish and subtle texture of both.

Story

The company behind the Hasami collection, Saikai, was founded in 1946 in Nagasaki, Japan, an area that’s been known for its porcelain since the 17th century. To this day, Saikai is famous for its timeless form-follows-function aesthetic. Since the Hasami collection is handmade by Japanese artisans, each piece features slight variations in colors and texture that make it unique. This tea pot stands 4” high and 5.5” wide. Dishwasher and microwave safe, it stacks easily with Hasami plates, making storage easy.
