Himalayan Sheesham Hardwood Leather Sound Bowl Mallet

A hardwood mallet designed to draw out notes from sound bowls

Description

Why We Love This

This ringing-stick mallet is designed to create powerfully bold notes. Sheesham hardwood is stained to reveal its wood grain, and a sheath of black leather is wrapped around and over the top. Use the leather end to bring out low tones and the wood end for higher notes.

Story

This handmade mallet is crafted from sheesham, one of the finest varieties of rosewood timber, which is traditionally used in making percussion instruments. The wood is sun-dried, then cut and carved to specifications for authentic and clean sound. The pressure of the mallet produces vibrations that create the resounding tones of the singing bowl. Let the sound slowly build as the vibrations round out and up. Run the end of the mallet along the rim to start breaking it in. In time, and with use, shallow grooves form on the stick, which will help produce better sound and ease of playing. It measures 7” long.

About the Maker

Bodhisattva Trading Company, based in Los Angeles, was co-founded by Shakti, an expert at harnessing the energy of singing bowls. Committed to sharing their power with the world, she carefully curates the entire collection of bowls, which are used in many healing disciplines. Shakti believes Tibetan singing bowls don’t just sing, but are expressive tools to help us understand the frequencies we hear and experience in our bodies.
