Description

Story

These durable bags are made from fibers of the dajudie plant. Every leaf is removed from the stem then scraped to extract the fiber, which is then washed, sun-dried and hand-spun into a weave-able material. All dyes used are from trees: bark for soft red, fruits for dark blue and resin for brown. The women work on their laps, with no loom, looping the fibers with a needle. It takes three weeks to make a single bag. Etacore creates a fair wage source of stable income through sales to international markets while maintaining ancestral arts.
