Japanese-made brass paperweight designed by Taku Shinomoto of Tortoise General Store
This brass paperweight can help important papers stay put on your desk or simply act as a decorative accent on a bookshelf or mantle. We love the simplicity of its shape and its heft in the hand.
Former furniture designer Taku Shinomoto and his wife Keiko opened Tortoise General Store, a shop highlighting exclusively Japanese artistsí designs, in Los Angeles in 2003. Designed by Shinomoto himself and made in Japan by master metalworkers, this paperweight is crafted of solid brass and available in natural brass finish or black. Paperweights have long been prized and collected for their artistry. Originally produced in France in the mid 19th century, paperweights are traditionally made of decorated glass, making this minimalist brass version both unusual and modern.
