about the maker
Known as peace bells, these bells are hung around the world and are rung with the intention of inspiring and advocating peace. They’re hand-pinched with either a carved or smooth surface. Hanging beads, heart and a ceramic coin give them sound. These bells can be hung indoors or out. No two bells are exactly alike.
  • Length: 2.5 inches
  • Width: 2.75 inches
Hung for centuries in various places throughout Asia, peace bells have since made their way into Western culture. The maker of these small bells, inspired by both Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics, has created a work of art that will evoke peace when hung inside or out of any home sanctuary. Made with both function and beauty in mind, each handmade piece is unique.

Beth Katz’s life’s journey began in Topanga Canyon, where she learned the art of pottery while growing up. She spent time working in other fields—as a makeup artist and then as a Creative Director at a women’s magazine. But it wasn’t until she returned to school for a graduate degree in Spiritual Psychology that she realized her hobby was to be her career. Enlightened by the choices she had made along the way, her art today—found in the combination of functional and decorative pieces of Mt. Washington Pottery—is inspired by the steps she has taken since childhood.
