Alix D. Reynis Empire Bowl

A handmade porcelain salad bowl with a leaf-patterned rim

Why We Love This

Alix D. Reynis’ porcelain Empire salad bowl, with its single-band leaf pattern curling around the rim, is a pretty addition to any tabletop. We use ours daily for salad, soup, pasta or cereal. We especially like that it’s dishwasher and microwave safe.

Objects made from porcelain are at once delicate and durable. Alix D. Reynis designs and molds her ceramic pieces in her Paris studio, and then has them produced in Limoges, France, a region famous for its superior porcelain production. The intricate leaf pattern defines her Empire series. Glazed with a glossy white finish, this small round salad bowl is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe, making this a piece of fine china that can be used daily.

About the Maker

Alix D. Reynis formally trained as a sculptor and interior designer before teaching herself the specialized craft of ceramics. Working in porcelain, often called “white gold,” she describes the material as “noble, pure and demanding.” Reynis designs and makes the casts for each piece in her Paris studio, and then has them produced as full collections in Limoges, an area of France that’s famous for its superior porcelain production.
