Straight from the streets of Rome, this functional foursome has style and history. This variety pack of colorful vintage pencils, culled from a stationer’s shop, is from the 1930s to the 1970s and is encased in paper that’s half a century old.
Antica Cartotecnica has been making and selling first-rate writing tools since 1930 and is run by the same family, whose commitment to quality persists, even in these simple pencils. These four wood pencils are snugged up in a lovely colored pocket made from rich Italian paper. Easy to grab and go, put this packet in a bag or pocket on the way out the door to sketch or jot on a moment’s notice. This selection of various leads inspire us to lay the screens, tablets and phones aside for a moment to reflect and follow the age-old practice of putting pencil to paper.
Antica Cartotecnica, fine stationers, was opened in 1930 by the current owner’s grandmother. Located in a landmark location in Rome, Italy that sits between the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, it’s still a family-run business. Dedicated to the ancient art of writing, they’ve established their own line of notebook, planners and journals, all handmade with the finest papers by Italian artisans.
