Stackable handmade porcelain mug from Japan
Crafted from a porcelain and clay blend, this mug marries a contemporary feel with time-honored Japanese pottery techniques. We love the soothing neutral colors, the natural and black’s organic matte finish and the gray’s subtle gloss. Mugs in both sizes stack, so they take up minimal space in the cabinet.
The company behind the Hasami collection, Saikai, was founded in 1946 in Nagasaki, Japan, an area that’s been known for its porcelain since the 17th century. To this day, Saikai is famous for its timeless form-follows-function aesthetic. Since the Hasami collection is handmade by Japanese artisans, each piece features slight variations in colors and texture that make it unique. The small mug is 3.5” high and 3.75” wide and holds 13 ounces, while the large is 4.25” high and 3.75” wide and holds 15 ounces. Dishwasher and microwave safe, the mugs can be stacked with each other or with the Hasami mini-plate, mini-wood tray, sugar pot or creamer.
