A glazed dish available in four designs
Crackly and imperfect, gently textured and capturing the artist’s interpretation of Eastern iconography with each design, we love these hand-painted white glazed hearts. Let this heart take care of crystals, tiny pieces of jewelry or burning incense cones.
The maker of these hearts, Michele Quan, once said that when she looks at the sky, it cuts straight to the bone. Her art, with designs like the ones found on these handmade heart-shaped dishes, conveys that feeling. The crescent moon; the sun, moon and the stars, the all-seeing eyes and the radiating starsñchoose one design to hold precious items or place all four heart-shaped dishes together to create a table or altar to worship these iconic celestial symbols.
Michele Quan designs and sculpts handmade ceramic art and objects for the home and garden out of her studio in Brooklyn, New York. Religious symbols and Eastern iconography are articulated in Quan’s work as she finds their meaning and beauty a source of inspiration. Her ceramic pieces are crafted by hand, wheel thrown, or slip cast in stoneware and porcelain. Quan incorporates brass, hand-dyed cotton, felted wool, organically grown hemp rope and reclaimed wood into her artóeach piece of which acts as a canvas for her love of drawing, painting, texture and color.
