Brass bookend designed by Taku Shinomoto of Tortoise General Store
Made by Japanese master metalworkers, this brass book end does more than simply hold up books. It holds its own on any shelf with a weight and significance to match the finest works of literature. We love the natural finish’s subtle luster.
Former furniture designer Taku Shinomoto and his wife Keiko opened Tortoise General Store, a shop highlighting exclusively Japanese artists’designs, in Los Angeles in 2003. Designed by Shinomoto himself, these bookends are manufactured by Nousaku, Japanese artisans who have been crafting metal pieces from altar fittings to incense holders for the last hundred years. These book ends act as simple objets d’art as well as a way to keep tomes looking tidy. Bookends sold separately.
