Brewing this certified organic, green tea adds a bit of ceremony to any day. Harvested on a plantation in the Japanese highlands by five generations of master tea makers. We love the sweet warm flavor of Hojicha that reminds us of autumn roasted chestnuts.
Distinctive Hojicha, a green tea with reddish brown leaves and brew, is roasted in a porcelain pot over charcoal, rather than the usual steaming of the leaves. Because of this high temperature process, the tea is less caffeinated and less astringent, with a toastier, slightly caramel flavor. Since it’s a mild tea, it is often served in the evening after a meal. A known source of antioxidants, green teas are said to decrease blood pressure, lower cholesterol and boost the immune system. Parceled in hand-sewn silk pyramids for a deep infusion of flavor and a pre-measured, one-cup amount. Ten premium sachets are housed in each black matte, cylindrical tin.
