Mystic Terence McKenna on the Importance of Hallucinogens in Spiritual Development
In 1993, Mark Keniston, who was at that time a co-editor of the Bodhi Tree Book Review, traveled to San Francisco to interview author, mystic and ethnobotonist Terence McKenna about his book True Hallucinations: Being an Account of the Author’s Extraordinary Adventures in the Devil’s Paradise. McKenna, who passed away in 2000, was one of the most compelling of modern mind-adventurers who believed hallucinogenic substances are the most direct conduit to a complete spiritual experience of the mind and its realms. In this talk, he discusses the historical importance of hallucinogens in the religious and spiritual development of the human race.
