Organic cotton pique-weave kitchen towel and wash cloth
Even the thread and label used to craft these simple yet beautifully designed towels are made with organic cotton. Designed to add beauty to your kitchen as a small towel or wash cloth, we think it’s also nice as a small guest towel.
The ribbed pique weave was originally used to duplicate the weave of Provencal quilts made in Marseille. That’s why the weaving style is also known as marcella—a variation on the French city. That attention to design makes even a mostly unnoticed household item, like a kitchen cloth, more elegant. But The Organic Company didn’t stop at designing a gorgeous product; quality, simplicity and care for the world in which we live are philosophically weaved into these kitchen cloths as well. No plastic or toxic chemicals are used in their making, assuring no negative impact on our oceans and fauna.
The Organic Company is a Danish company, founded by Joy Vasiljev in 2007, that produces tasteful yet versatile organic textiles for the home. The company’s design aesthetic is Scandinavian simplicity that maintains a focus on function and quality. Everything is made from 100% Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton. That means not only is quality high and the fabric used organic, but also the hands that go into producing the materials are protected, as international workers’ rights are met and no toxic chemicals are used along the way. Stringent monitoring and testing at all stages of the production chain ensures everyone is protected. Respect for workers and the environment is part of the foundation of this company’s values.
