A hand-sewn, bone-colored leather pouch handmade in the New Mexican desert
This handcrafted leather pouch, a modern take on the traditional Native American medicine bag, can hold a sacred object, or a house key. Made from locally sourced, ultra soft deerskin, this hand-stitched bag with an original design hand-burned onto the surface, is embellished with silver antique Ethiopian beads.
Native American medicine bags were traditionally worn around the neck to carry cedar, sage, tobacco small sacred objects. Three Arrows Leather designer Sessann Orne, inspired by the practices of indigenous cultures, remakes the traditional medicine bag in her signature style. Made in the high desert of New Mexico, a love of natural forms and high quality materials imbues her designs. A flap closure is weighted closed with a leather tassel of beaded fringe and the pouch’s silhouette is elongated by fringe hand cut on an angle.
In 2009, designer Sessann Orne, founder of Three Arrows Leather, left a 13-year career as a brand manager and trend forecaster in Los Angeles and followed her heart to the high desert of New Mexico, where she lives off the grid in an earthship home and crafts leather accessories and items for the home. All of her designs are inspired by an Angeleno rock-n-roll vibe blended with her love of indigenous cultures and the untamed, southwest landscape. Handcrafted from locally sourced materials, each piece is hand-cut and hand-stitched, so no two are exactly alike.
