Stoneware bell available in three sizes
This contemporary indoor or outdoor ceramic bell is decorated with a constellation of shining stars painted in a matte black glaze finish. We love the detailófrom the hemp rope to the reclaimed wood knocker that sings the chime.
Bells are said to pay homage to the present through sound. Like all of the pieces in this maker’s collection of art, Eastern iconography is deeply rooted in these celestial pieces. Some say that a constellation isn’t simply an astrological phenomenon, but rather stars carefully placed by a higher being. This carefully crafted constellation can bring harmony and a connection with the sky when hung in a home or sanctuaryóinside or outside.
Michele Quan designs and sculpts handmade ceramic art and objects for the home and garden out of her studio in Brooklyn, New York. Religious symbols and Eastern iconography are articulated in Quan’s work as she finds their meaning and beauty a source of inspiration. Her ceramic pieces are crafted by hand, wheel thrown, or slip cast in stoneware and porcelain. Quan incorporates brass, hand-dyed cotton, felted wool, organically grown hemp rope and reclaimed wood into her artóeach piece of which acts as a canvas for her love of drawing, painting, texture and color.
